A Paranoid Mother

Arranging a movie date with my cousin was as quick as Glenn Ong and Jamie Yeo moving on after their spilt. If you didnt know, Ong with Danker and Yeo with some ang moh dude. That's very fast. Like super fast. Like "Omg, WHAT?" fast.

On that movie date, I started lunch at home at around 11.45am and had to reach PS by 1pm. It was still considered early, so took my own sweet time piling my plate with some home-cooked bee hoon.

My mummy entered the scene and took her place opposite where I was seating.

"What time does the movie start?" she asked me, hands still holding onto a Ikea plate and a pair of wooden chopsticks taken from the kitchen counter.

Between chomps, I replied "1pm." At the same time, my younger brother came in and joined us for lunch.

Overhearing what I said, my brother glanced at the clock. "It's already close to 12! You sure will be late lor!" he commented.

"Yar! Your brother is right!! You will be late," my mother chirped in and I shot my brother a see-lar-thanks-for-helping look.

"Your Korkor has the car. He can give you a lift to the Kambenang Mrt station. He's going out now, quick go get him!" my mother hurriedly said.

"I wont be late! Im going to take bus lar. Its more convenient ok. I wont be late wan lar," I reassured my mother, but also with a tinge of annoyance in my tone.

Silence after that. But only for a few minutes. We heard a clang from the gate outside. My older brother came back to retrieve something which he had forgotten to take.

"Your Korkor is back!! Go now!! He can send you to the mrt station!! Elliot, you are going to be late if you gonna take the bus. See its alr 1210! Go, get your brother!" my mother resumed being so retardly paranoid about me being late.

"I wont be late!! Come on! I have more experience taking public transport. If I take train, I will be there too early! Trust me, I wont be late. Goodness. Let it rest," I said indignantly and finished up my last strand of my bee hoon.

"Erm, Elias arh,"I turned to my younger brother."It is bus 10 or bus 14 to plaze sing?"

I was not late in the end, just to let you know hehe
